Admission requirements for the degree programme
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of a 1st cycle degree in one of the following classes, or other suitable qualification obtained abroad:
- ex Italian Ministerial Decree 270: L-22
- ex Italian Ministerial Decree 509/99: Class 33
- ISEF Diploma;
If none of the aforementioned degrees are possessed, admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of one of the following qualifications: degree, three-year university diploma, four-year university degree, other qualification recognised under special laws or a suitable qualification obtained abroad leading to the recognition of at least 60 CFU in the subject areas covering the core learning activities of Class L-22 as laid down in Ministerial Decree (D.M.) of 16 March 2007 (Official Journal no. 155 of 6-7-2007 - Ordinary Suppl. no.153).
A special Board is appointed by the Degree Programme Board to recognise the university learning credits required for admission, at the specific request of the candidate.
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of the described curricular requirements and to the passing of an assessment of the candidates' competences and skills, through the assessment of the curriculum and a written and/or oral exam. The entrance examination procedures are decided annually by the Degree Programme Board and published on the University portal in the relative call for applications.
The assessment of competences and skills for admission to the 2nd cycle degree in Sciences and Techniques of Sports Activities aims to verify the candidates' basic command of the following subjects: applied biology, human anatomy, particularly the anatomy of the locomotor system, general pedagogy, human physiology, biochemistry and human nutrition, general psychology, theory and methodology of human movement, anthropometry and ergonomics, public and private law, hygiene applied to sport and exercise, technique and didactics theory of pediatric exercise, traumatology and first aid, theory and didactics of team sports, theory and didactics of swimming, theory and methodology of training, theory and didactics of individual sports.
Knowledge and skills in the English language to level B1 will be assessed by the University Linguistic Centre.
Students holding a corresponding language certification may be exempted from sitting this exam.
Candidates must pass the exam in order to register with the 2nd cycle degree programme.

Specific learning outcomes of the Programme
This programme produces 2nd cycle graduates with advanced scientific knowledge in the field of top-level sports activities.
In the programme students acquire the knowledge and competences to help athletes to achieve top competitive performance using advanced training techniques and to optimise their physiological performance and technique.
The outcomes are achieved through lectures, seminars and meetings with experts and top-class athletes, the use of case studies, technical and practical demonstrations in the field and individual exercises using advanced analytical tools to analyse performance; students will research texts individually and produce original works on the studied subjects and techniques; they will perform internships in qualified sports facilities working in a range of different sporting disciplines; finally, they will produce an experimental dissertation on a subject linked to the curriculum.
